The Brave Space: A Legacy of Shelter, Strength, and Second Chances

Every day, survivors of intimate partner violence face an unimaginable choice: remain in danger or leave everything behind with nowhere to turn. Too often, the absence of safe, stable housing forces them back into the cycles of crisis.

Our Brave Space changes that. In November 2023, Rise Up 2 Thrive opened the doors to a new sanctuary in Cascade, Idaho. More than walls and rooms, it is a haven where survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and their children can find safety, stability, and the support to begin again.

With the help of generous neighbors and businesses, this once-empty space was transformed. Volunteers cleaned, remodeled, and decorated to create an environment that is not only secure, but warm, welcoming, and filled with dignity.

A dedicated playroom gives children a safe place to laugh, play, and heal while their parents meet with advocates.

Private spaces now exist for survivors to share their stories and receive support from law enforcement, counselors, and community partners, away from the fear and control of their abuser.

But there is one crucial step left: we must secure this space permanently! By donating to purchase the Brave Space, you are not just funding a building, you are investing in freedom, healing, and hope. Your generosity will:
  • Ensure survivors always have a sanctuary to turn to.
  • Provide children a safe environment to grow and dream.
  • Create a lasting legacy of compassion and safety in our community.

    Voices of Survivors:
โ€œWhen I walked into the Brave Space, I didnโ€™t feel like a victim anymore. I felt like someone who mattered.โ€ โ€” Survivor and resident โ€œThis place gave me the time and support to rebuild my life. Iโ€™m now working, parenting, and thriving.โ€ โ€” Survivor of intimate partner violence

This is your moment to make a difference. Together, we can ensure that the Brave Space continues to stand as a beacon of safety, strength, and second chances, for today, tomorrow, and generations to come.

Everyone Knows someone and domestic/sexual violence is not stopping so either am I. We all have stories, whether it is your story, a sisterโ€™s story, or a friendโ€™s story. Domestic and Sexual violence will impact each one of us in our lifetime. I have had the opportunity in providing support services to survivors for the last 15 years. I started out by working to educate the public to promote a community that are free from violence, but soon after, I began working directly with victims/survivors and that is where I found my passion. Itโ€™s an honor to be serving as the Executive Director for RiseUp2Thrive while supporting individuals that are still living with abuse, have left and those that are survivors. Sometimes we get used to our comfortable standard of living and forget that there are so many others that are struggling with violence in their home. Did you know that on average, women experience 35 incidents of violence before reporting it to Law Enforcement or before seeking services? And that each day in Idaho approximately 670 survivors and their children seek safety and services from community based programs. Idahoโ€™s response to domestic violence can be improved by investing in community-based victim service agencies, and creating practices that will directly connect individuals to local services. RiseUp2Thrive will be providing many of those critical services within beautiful Valley County, Id and its surrounding areas. Domestic violence can be one of the most difficult things to talk about, but it is up to us to start conversations around these issues, because the more we choose not to talk about it, the more power we give to the abuser. Letโ€™s talk!
